3D Technology Checklist This product is 3D-related. To help you get a great 3D experience, use our checklist below to ensure that you have everything you need. If you have any questions or want to learn more about 3D, we invite you to visit 3D 101--our center for everything 3D. To get started with 3D, please ensure that you have: A Display The first--and most important--item you'll need is a 3D-ready display--whether it be a 3D HDTV, 3D projector, or 3D computer monitor. These displays usually have a higher processing power than older models as they need to display one image for each eye to create a 3D effect. A Source While your display is ready for 3D playback, you still need a device to read 3D content (i.e., a movie or a show). This source can be a cable box with a subscription to a 3D channel, a 3D Blu-ray Disc player, or a PlayStation 3. Content In order to watch 3D, you will need to get some 3D content. This 3D content will come from the source mentioned above in the form of a 3D program, movie, or game. Please ensure that your 3D movies are in the Blu-ray 3D format, as this new format will provide the best 3D experience. 3D Glasses All 3D HDTVs on the market require Active Shutter glasses to create the 3D effect. You will need to buy one pair of glasses for each viewer. Also make sure that the Active Shutter glasses you buy are compatible with your display--for example, buy the glasses from the same brand as your 3D HDTV. HDMI Cable To connect your source (such as a 3D Blu-ray Disc player) to your display, you'll need a hgh-speed HDMI cable. Cables with this designation--with bandwidth speeds up to 10.2 Gbps (gigabits per second)--will be able to carry the 3D signal without any loss of quality. If you want to get more information about 3D, shop our 3D products, watch videos, or interact with other customers, visit 3D 101, our customer center about everything 3D. By Gearhead Let me save you the time in case you don't want to read this detailed review, then just hear this caveat out: "The PN58C7000 is the GREATEST deal you can possibly get for a new 3D HDTV". There's so much detail for this review, I don't even know where to begin! It would be helpful to state a precondition that this plasma ultimately replaced a Samsung 42" 720p plasma, which was tipping the scale at 6 years old, but still had an incredible picture for its time. Within the last several months, I spent a lot of time watching 1080p content on my friend's TV, and started noticing the difference. If anyone out there is not a believer that 1080p will blow your old fabulous 720p set away, believe it as it will. This was one heck of a quest. Let's rewind the clocks a bit as this all started back in December 2008, when I was visiting ABT checking out their newest HDTV lineup. I had been itching to get a new TV, and having had a plasma all these years, I was determined on getting a plasma replacement as the reviews usually include them on the "best HDTVs" list. Anyway, if anyone has been to ABT, then you'll know that by the furniture/appliance area at the entrance of the store, they have home theater seating to sample, and usually have an incredible HDTV on display. Well I remember looking at the regular LCD/Plasma "row display" (near the TV/Audio sections), and looked over by this area to see 3 TVs lined up on the wall. To say the least, those TVs had the BEST picture of any set in the entire store. As I approached, I could see the words "Panasonic" and "THX" enlarged on the wall. They were truly the most magnificent displays I had seen at the time, matched only by the Kuro (which they also had on display in the projector room). Well as it turned out, the TV series was the infamous Panasonic TH-PZ800U. They had a 42, 50, and 58" screen all in a row of 3. I instantly fell in love with the 58" model. I was shocked how much larger the 58" is compared to the 42", which is what I had. Low and behold, the 800U from Panasonic was CNET's TV of the year, and the second highest rated TV ever, second only to the Pioneer Kuro. Now let's fast forward to January 2010. Since seeing that TV at that time, I instantly was a Panasonic fanboy; I had no choice really now that they were the largest manufacturer of plasmas. I followed the V10, G10, and Z1, all of which received serious accolades. I came close to pulling the trigger on the 54G10 many times, but decided to wait until CES 2010. Boy am I glad I did! With the release of 3DTVs and HDMI 1.4, I did not want to buy an obsolete model. Another major milestone I'll never forget reading about was the infamous CNET/AVS articles regarding the Panasonic "rising blacks" issue. More shocking was Panasonic's arrogance that this issue was expected with no fix. This totally destroyed Panasonic's reputation with me. An entire year of following Panasonic plasmas went down the drain. At that point, I had given up hope on plasmas, and thus started a new quest: LED. I looked at the UN55B6000, B7000, and B8000 models. Recently I came close to buying the UN55C7000 (3D model), and had a chance to get an awesome deal; actually I would have saved almost $50 this route. Seeing the TV in person really changes you though, the flashlighting (in the corners) and image ghosting was noticeable in the store. The 240hz feature was unbearable as well (soap opera effect). To me, 240hz feels like someone is fast forwarding the scene 1-2x on a DVD. I have no idea why people are pretending they don't see it. I eventually came to terms to getting the Vizio VF552XVT, but something held me back. The picture looked okay in the store, but perhaps it was the design of the TV. I mean, it's really an ugly TV, how can its design even compare with that of Samsung? It's almost a whopping 5 inches thick, which in today's day and

More scanning lines mean more pixels, more details and a better picture. The new Samsung LCD TV with resolution that is approximately 2 times greater than conventional HDTVs, creating the most perfect picture imaginable. Samsung's 1080p panel uses a new high-speed liquid crystal to cut response time to 6ms (milliseconds). Wide Color Enhancer 2/Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp The NTSC (National Television Systems Committee) has established the color standards all TVs in America try to meet. And typical LCD TVs only meet about 72 percent of this standard. Samsung LCD HDTVs use Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp backlights to give you 92 percent coverage of the NTSC standard, ensuring truer, more breathlessly vivid colors. Samsung's Wide Color Enhancer 2 technology delivers more brilliant colors by expanding the gamut of color expression into a third axis, creating a 3D diagram of luminance. This creates a dynamic display of on-screen color and allows traditionally weak colors, such as green and blue, to look vivid and deep. In addition, red colors are enhanced to provide strong colors across the spectrum and the perfect balance of RGB. 70,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio 70,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio will give you a picture better than you ever thought possible, with whiter whites, blacker blacks and a nearly infinite subtlety of gradations in between. As two of the most important determining factors in overall picture quality, contrast and brightness levels achieve new heights in this latest generation LCD panel. Samsung's new LCD TVs give the most stunning realistic picture quality ever. Touch of Color In 2008, Samsung created its unique Touch of Color (ToC) design, which uses dual-injection molding to coat a translucent, colored surface to achieve an attractive crystalline appearance. The latest evolution of Samsung's ToC design begins with a deep piano black bezel that fades into distinct chrome that finishes as light ruby highlights. The intensity of the color subtly changes depending upon the viewing angle, and further accentuates the TV's slim bezel. Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room? With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience. If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get. Minimum size = Viewing distance/3 Maximum size=Viewing distance/1.5

By Rob I researched the purchase of this TV for over six months- far more than I ever researched even a vehicle purchase. I've had it for approx 2 weeks now and am very impressed. I was originally planning to purchase the 44in model but eventually changed my mind and purchased the 52 in model. The only feature I was worried about not having was the 120 hz. I went to an electronics store and viewed both 60 and 120 hz side by side and could not tell the difference- the 60 hz is plenty fast for me. Many people complained about the sound quality of last year's model. Unfortunately I have no pertinent information to add here as I am utilizing a surround sound system. You will not regret purchasing this TV 47 of 51 people found the following review helpful. I agree with Rob By Karen I agree totally with what the reviewer Rob said about this TV. I also bought the 52 inch after considering the 46 inch and am very, very satisfied. We replaced a Panasonic big screen with this Samsung and are so glad we did. The Panasonic died after 5 years, and I hated it from the moment we bought it. This Samsung is so much better a TV. The quality of the picture is outstanding and the color also. I, like Rob, cannot compare the sound because we also are connected to a surround sound system. We shopped for about six months also before buying this one, and in the stores with different brands side by side, the only other TV that came anywhere close to the Samsung's picture was the Sony Bravia. According to Consumer Reports, the Samsung is the one to buy...the Sony was second on the list, so we went with the Samsung. Since all of the TV's in our house have decided to die all at one time, we will definitely be buying more Samsungs in the near future. 31 of 33 people found the following review helpful. Sound is just fine By Freedom First Just wanted to comment on the sound for this TV because that seems to be the weak point in so many of the Samsung LCD reviews. I think the sound quality is just fine. This model does not have the built-in subwoofer available with the 700 series, but the sound is still quite adequate. I'm sure that any type of enhanced audio system will greatly improve the sound, but don't be too concerned about what the TV itself provides. I was expecting the sound to be tinny, weak, etc. but I don't find that to be the case at all. See all 68 customer reviews...

(December 2010)Panasonic's 54-inch VIERA TC-P54VT25 Full HD 3D Plasma TV is ready to put you right inside the action. With brand new 3D and proven 2D technologies for serious realism, THX certification, and a wealth of analog and digital inputs and outputs, it's perfect for experiencing cinimea in your own home. Add VIERA Cast for accessing Internet content, image viewing and video playback from SD cards, and 30 watts of high-quality audio, and you've got a cutting-edge foundation for your home theater setup. The VIERA VT25 Series Full HD 3D Plasmas create an all new viewing experience by putting you inside the action and creating a new world of TV viewing realism. Full HD 3D Realism Frame Sequential Technology The method used to send left-eye and right-eye 3D images viewers is key to the 3D image quality, and Full HD 3D uses what's called Frame Sequential technology. The VT25 series plasma display panel allows images for each eye to be alternately reproduced at the rate of 60 frames per second (fps), making a total fps for both eyes. Viewers watch the images through high-precision 3D eyewear, which open and close the left and right shutters in synchronization with the alternating images. As a result, a separate 1920 x 1080 full-HD image is sent to each eye. This addresses the image quality problems and blurring that were common to earlier 3D systems, and creates sharp, crisp 3D images. 3D Display Optimization The Frame Sequential Technology requires images to be displayed at 1/120 of a second--twice as fast as ordinary full-HD images. If the luminescence time for each frame were simply shortened, the screen brightness would be lowered. To solve this problem, panasonic shortened the luminescence time and raised the luminescence intensity, to keep things bright and detailed. Additionally, newly developed fast-decay R and G phosphors reduce the afterimage time to 1/3, to ensure 3D images are displayed with no visible afterimage. Panasonic 3D Eyewear Included with each VT25-series VIERA 3D TV is one pair of 3D eyewear necessary to view the 3D content. To share the experience with others, additional 3D Eyewear may be purchased separately. Active-shutter Panasonic 3D glasses enable clear and comfortable 3D viewing. Award-winning picture quality. The Eyewear can be easily adjusted to fit various face shapes and sizes, from children to adults, and their extremely durable hinges withstand repeated opening and closing. You can also use these glasses over your normal prescription glasses. Stellar Video and Audio Performance Infinite Black Panel Pro With Infinite Black Panel Pro, VIERA HDTVs are able to display extremely robust blacks. A new panel and improvements to the cell discharge area dramatically increase contrast when viewing in brightly lit locations. And reducing the electrical pre-discharge that causes graying has greatly enhanced black gradation. As a result, deep, rich blacks are displayed in virtually any viewing area, from living rooms to bedrooms. Even in dark film scenes, clothing textures, individual strands of hair, and other fine details are clearly reproduced. The Real Film Experience This display is THX certified, meaning it reproduces film images as the filmmakers intended them. To receive THX certification, TVs undergo stringent tests to determine, for example, whether the exact same brightness and color are displayed at all screen locations, and whether black levels satisfy standard criteria. VIERA meets the high standards set by the THX Certified Display Program. Crisp, Clear Moving Pictures With 600Hz Sub-Field Drive 600Hz technology lets you view superb full-HD motion and still images with 1,080 lines of resolution. For even greater clarity with motion images, Panasonic uses its own unique image-analysis technology. This technology converts the motion in each scene into dots. And each frame is practically displayed for a shorter length of time than in previous systems, to reduce aftereffects. Infinite Black Panel Pro for deep, rich blacks in any viewing situation. 600Hz technology provides even greater clarity with motion images. Panasonic Video Technologies Panasonic offers a wealth of video technology with their displays, and the TC-P54VT25 is no exception. x.v.Color is the new standard in high-definition color, which delivers up to 80 percent more color than standard HDTV for breathtaking realism and vivid, natural colors. 3D Color Management optimizes all colors to deliver pictures that are beautiful to the human eye. 24p Cinematic Playback displays movies in natural, cinematic motion, allowing you to experience theater-like viewing at home. And gaming mode optimizes all settings for quick response and great graphics when paired with your gaming system. Solid Audio The TC-P54VT25 boasts three speakers to deliver great sound (when you aren't listening through your home theater system, that is). Two full-range drivers and a woofer for the low-end deliver 30 Watts of crystal-clear sound. BBE's ViVA sound widening technology widens your stereo image, and a built-in surround effect makes things more immersive even without satellite speakers. Connectivity and Convenience Great Web Entertainment, Home Video Conferencing, and More The age of the Internet TV is well underway, and VIERA Cast's assorted online content keeps getting better. In addition to the popular content such as YouTube and Picasa Web Albums, it now offers Pandora Internet Radio, movies streamed from Netflix (paid service), exciting sports from FOX Sports, tweeting web communications with Twitter, and even home video and audio conferencing with Skype (with the optional communication camera TY-CC10). It also provides USB terminals for a keyboard and Wireless LAN Adaptor. Panasonic's VIERA Cast lets you access Internet content, from streaming movies to social networking. To learn more about Internet-ready HDTVs, visit Internet-Ready TV 101. Easy Viewing of Full-HD Photos and Videos Thanks to Panasonic's VIERA Image Viewer, it's easy to view full-HD images off of SD cards. Watch and show your photos and motion images right after you take them. Simply insert an SD Memory Card into your VIERA HDTV to display photos and full-HD videos on the large screen. You can also choose from among 5 types of background music and 5 display effects. It's much more fun when you can view them on a large screen HDTV with family and friends. Throw some MP3s on that SD Card and you can also play them back, for a quick music solution. Operation With a Single Remote For those who own multiple Panasonic VIERA devices--VIERA Link allows interconnected operation of various AV devices using only the VIERA remote control, by simply connecting compatible devices to each other by an HDMI cable. The TC-P54VT25 is ready to integrate into your existing VIERA system. VIERA Tools Navigating your system's features is important, too. Vajrala First of all, I'm not a technical expert on any of LCD/LED/Plasma TVs. I'm planning to buy a LED 3D TV/Plasma 3D TV on the Black Friday. I read very good reviews on Panasonic Plasma 3D TV than an equivalent LED 3D TV. I've not seen a 3D TV yet myself, so myself and my wife decided to go to BestBuy(BB) to check out practically. Even before we went ot BB, I checked couple of my friends and they said I should go for LED and that is the only way and that Plasma is dead and gone soon. We reached BB and went into the 3D center and saw a Sony 60-inch 3D LED TV(don't remember the model # but the cost is close to 4 grand) and Panasonic 54-inch 3d Plasma TV(model # TC-P54VT25 54" 1080p Plasma 3D TV). I told the technician that I wanted to see a 3D demo of the Panasonic Plasma 3D TV. He said the fixed mount 3d glasses are already attached in front of the Panasonic 3d Plasma TV and that I can go and watch the Avatar movie. I watched the movie in 3D and it's exactly like what we watched in the movie theaters and the colors are crisp and the picture quality is superb. My wife then watched it from the fixed mount and she said the 3D quality is superb. I then asked the technician to put the same Avatar 3D movie in the Sony 3D Bluray player attached to the 60-inch Sony 3D TV and asked for 2 pairs of Sony 3D glasses for the Sony 60-inch tv as there was no fixed mount 3D glass in front of the Sony TV. I watched by sitting in the front couch of the Sony TV and found the 3D tv reasonable. The tech asked me to stand up and move sidewards(any side) couple of feet and then there is the ghost image and the loss of the color and 3D effect. I did the same thing on the other side and the same problem existed. Then the tech asked to sit in the middle of the couch(my initial position). He asked me to bend my head any side, again there is the ghost image and the loss of the color and 3D effect. I bent my head the other side and the same problem persisted. Also the 3D quality of Sony is not as good as the Panasonic Plasma TV. At this point I realized that the Pansonic 3D tv has a fixed mount 3D eye glasses in front of it and we are not moving any side and that probably might be the reason for the Pansonic's better 3D picture quality. I immediately asked the tech to bring a pair of Panasonic 3D glasses. He brought them and I wore it now in front of the Panasonic 3D TV with the same Avatar movie playing again. I moved sidewards either side and bent my head either side. The picture was perfect, no ghosting and no change in colors and absolutely the same picture quality as it was when I was standing in front of the fixed mount eye glasess. My wife did exactly what I did and she said she saw the 3D picture without any negative effects. Also the 3D depth in Plasma TV is very natural and the colors are very crisp and this is not the case with Sony LED TV and 3D in Sony looked somewhat artificial. As a last thing, I asked the tech to remove the 3D features and saw the Avatar in 2D mode and it has still superb picture quality with crisp colors. Coming to the price, Plasma 3D TVs are relatively inexpensive compared to comparable LED 3D TVs. The only reason most people are interested in LED TV is it is new technoogy, LED TV is sleek looking whereas Plasma TVs are little bulkier and that's my guess. As I've not seen all the features of this TV, I would give atleast 4 stars to this TV So, my advice to you guys, first go to a store like BestBuy and do some research before deciding which TV is good for you and just do not strike off Plasma in the first place. 13 of 13 people found the following review helpful. I'm not going to go into great detail on the picture quality, because other reviews have commented on how good it is. The purpose of this review is to be a data point for a buzzing set. I have the latest firmware, the ferrite cores installed around the power cord, and the tv is sitting away from the wall. It BUZZES, plain and simple. If you're anywhere in front of the TV itself, it can be heard. If you move your head beyond the bezel of the TV, the buzzing goes away almost 100%. I sit 15 feet away and can clearly hear it during low volume. I'm trying to keep the volume loud enough to drown it out, but during quiet scenes I hear it. It's a very high pitched frequency. My parents cannot hear it (56 years old), but I clearly can (27 years old). My girlfriend can hear it but she says it doesn't bother her. It bothers me, to the point where I am not enjoying the TV. I contacted ABT (one of the sellers listed here on Amazon) and they simply state "all plasmas buzz." While that is true to an extent, they don't buzz like this model. Both of my brother's have plasmas. One is a 58b550 that doesn't buzz like this, the other is a 60" Pioneer Kuro that doesn't buzz like this. I have a Samsung tech coming out soon, but I'm fairly confident on what will be said, either a) it's a normal sound or b) I'll need a complete new panel. I don't want either. I want to return the set and exchange it for the same model with hopefully a newer build date to see if the issue has been addressed. If not I'll move on to a different TV. If you aren't able to hear extremely high frequency sounds, then you'll fall in love with this TV. If you can hear it, and you have the TV positioned so you sit in front of it at eye level, it will bother you. If you mount it above eye level so that the bottom of the bezel is above your eyes, you will not hear it. I really wish this set didn't buzz. It's an awesome TV aside from the horrendous noise it emits. It's sleek, attractive, runs cool in comparison to other plasmas, decent black levels, excellent color reproduction, great video processing, but oh man, the buzzing. I hope this review helps others to make sure beforehand that they can/can't hear this type of buzzing. Hopefully it will save you the headache that I am currently going through. 56 of 59 people found the following review helpful. I Luv this Great TV By R. McLaughlin I bought this a few weeks ago from the local big box (Amazon didnt offer it for sale yet). Did extensive comparisons with the Panasonic 3d TV but bought this one because it is thinner and I might want to eventually mount on a wall. I did notice that Aliens vs. Monsters does have some halo effect where sometime when something very light is next to something very dark it is like there is a smudge around the item (in the movie it most often occurs with the bleach blonde hair of Susan when she is in front of dark background, or around the moon at the beginning). This really bugged me. However, there is no other 3d source material to watch yet, and you cant even use the panasonic 3d demo as it wont work with the samsung tv, so I cant otherwise comment on this rare effect. It does not occur in 2d to 3d conversion or in 2d ever. The screen has some glare when viewing dark material in daylight, but otherwise the TruBlack does a great job of reducing glare, and 3D glasses reduce glare by 50% as well. I rarely notice glare at all, which is surprising for a plasma. Other than the rare halo artifact (which is not visible on the Panasonic demo, but I havent seen Monsters vs. Aliens on the Panasonic tv) the tv is virtually flawless. Put in a quality blueray source and the picture is a knockout. Try King Kong, or Pirates of Caribean. Wow. I gaurantee you have never seen such a quality picture ever before. Then, as there isnt currrently any

By Tyler Farnsworth I spent hours researching and looking at TVs in the store before buying this 55" monster. I actually returned a plasma I had purchased in order to get this TV and I am very glad I did. This TV will require some playing around in the menu settings and the settings of your input source (HD TV cable box and PS3 for me). Once dialed in though, it shines. The previous reviewers are telling the truth about the glossy screen, it will rainbow on you with heavy light coming in from windows or anything else that's bright and pointed at the TV, however if you plan on putting it in a dark room like I did, its extremely nice. I could have gotten the smaller 46" version with the matte screen to eliminate this rainbow glare but this glossy screen gives deeper blacks if used in the right conditions and that is exactly what I wanted. The only down side to this TV besides the reflective screen is the input lag. It's not as great as some other LCD's out there but to be honest I'd rather have this slighter higher input lag while gaming than give up all the other qualities this TV brings to the table. You are going to be hard pressed to find an LCD out right now that does everything as well as this TV, but with better lag. So as long as you're ok with ~50-80 ms input lag in game mode, a screen that is really meant for a darker room, and can take the time to dial in all the settings, this TV is will make you one happy camper. 20 of 20 people found the following review helpful. Beautiful By Capo Wow, this TV is beautiful. The color, contrast, and brightness is amazing. Pros: * Color saturation is just right. * Darks are very dark for non-full-frame LED * Price - Amazing for a 55" * Feature set is awesome considering the price * Fully transparent glass makes the picture look that much more amazing, especially in the dark. Cons: * Fully transparent glass is glossy and can produce lots of glare if you have windows in a bad location. The screen has an ambient light sensor so I just turned up the brightness and at night during movies it automatically dims for the dark conditions * The viewing angle is perfect for +/- 15 degrees... outside of that, the darks grey out... it's really not that big a deal though * It's not free? Notes: * You MUST tweak the settings on this TV such as the auto-dimming feature. By default, it is set to a backlight level of 0 (zero)!!! I turned it up to 8 and it is super bright while the darks are very dark. * If you're like me, then you hate the 120/240 hertz smooth motion that is built into TVs, including this one. The first thing I did was turn it OFF. It looks unnatural IMO. Overall, this is an amazing TV well worth the money. I would suggest it to anyone as long as they realize that the screen is glossy because that could be the biggest issue with the TV. I also got the warranty because my last Samsung died after a year and a half (the warranties are only 1 year). 33 of 40 people found the following review helpful. Glossy and reflections By D. Derenzo I've had the TV for a little over a month. The screen is extremely glossy, reflective and has rainbows. (See pics). Black levels are decent, but a little muddy when in a darkened room. I've messed around with most of the settings and just can't get the blacks to show good detail. There is a very tiny flashlight effect in the two lower corners, but barely noticeable. Colors are good, but inconsistent when watching cable so it's probably not the TV's fault. I see occasional lip sync issues, but again I've only seen this watching cable and it's not all the time, so I don't think it's the TV. Off angle picture definitely degrades. During the day, or with any lights on, the TV is barely watchable due to reflections. I get rainbows if a light is on and faces the TV. The only time I get good viewing is at night with almost all the lights off. If you have any

Adams Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R14LRZAXTZENR0 I decided on this TV because of the terrific price of it offered by Amazon (compared to Crutchfield an Vanns). The first delivery was a disaster because the panel was cracked in several places. My other 50in 2010 Samsung had the same issue with the first delivery. So be warned that Samsung is not packing these sets well given their thinness. Another bummer was the set is made in Mexico and not Japan or Korea. However that has been it. The picture quality is superb in 2D with all sources. Even SD looks good. The speakers are not great on the set but are serviceable. This TV loves HD sources! You will be amazed. There are four HDMI inputs. TV is very thin with a dark grey bezel (not the 8000 titanium). I have not tried 3D yet. Waiting for glasses to lower in price and to get a 3D Blu Ray player. All plasmas buzz to some degree and volume level. My set buzzes when a show is paused (DVR), but can't be heard otherwise. Some buzz so loud others return is (common plasma problem) - it is a crap shoot. Important notes: - make sure to update the sets firmware to the latest version (1025+), this will improve the 2D and 3D. - break in the set by running a variable signal for 25-50 hours (constantly moving images - no ESPN) this will help reduce Burn in problems - consider updating the set to C8000 model via the service menu, you will get all the 8000 features for free (like Cinema Smooth) 23 of 24 people found the following review helpful. Great TV but has issues. By vin This tv is by far an awesome tv. i have had it for 3 weeks and am blown away by the video quality. all the apps and everything are awesome. the quality is almost too real for anyone to get used to but no complains there. One thing you definitely do notice the first time you watch any hd content is some kinda juddering in the images. it is distracting. i contacted the support center several times and they had me try different settings on the tv, none of which solved the issue. at this point a service technician is coming out to check and tv and see what he can find defective. if he can't solve the issue i might think of sending the tv back. sad but i dont want to just put up with some issues after paying a heavy price tag. please be aware of this issue. i dont think samsung themselves are aware of this issue and no how to fix it. if they are able to fix it i will post an update to this reivew. try to hold off on buying for now. 18 of 18 people found the following review helpful. 3 months of use... and the verdict By Lorraen Badillo I bought this TV for my husband as a father's day gift. So it was purchased about 3 months ago. Here is my full impression. Picture At the store: When I was walking around in the store I saw this TV with Avatar going on it and right next to it was the equivalent non-3D Samsung in addition to all the other TVs. There is a huge difference in picture. The best way I could describe it is, it looks like a very high def documentary. What the sales guy said about that crisp effect is that since the TV is built to do so much heavy work for 3D, the 2D benefits in it's picture as well. I did NOT buy this TV to watch anything in 3D, I do not even own the glasses because they give me headaches. The picture quality in 2D is simply that good. The only times I've had issues with how anything looks on the TV it has always been from the source. Low quality TV show output. Blue Ray looks incredible. At home: At first it took a LOT of getting used to, it's SO detailed and sharp that it really does kinda feel very odd watching this TV. We watched movies we had seen many times before and found ourselves seeing things we never noticed. So there's an adjustment period. 3 months later: The TV feels natural to watch now. The odd thing is watching any non 3D TV feels like trying to

3D Technology Checklist This product is 3D-related. To help you get a great 3D experience, use the checklist below to ensure you have everything you need. 3D viewing requires: A DisplayFirst, you'll need a 3D-ready display--whether it's a 3D HDTV, 3D projector, or 3D computer monitor. These displays have more processing power than standard 2D models for displaying 3D images in rapid succession. A SourceYour display may be ready for 3D playback, but you'll still need a device to read 3D content. This can be a cable box with a subscription to a 3D channel, a 3D Blu-ray Disc player, or a PlayStation 3 system. 3D Content3D content--the actual entertainment, in other words--will be played back using the source mentioned above, whether it's a 3D broadcast from your cable provider, a 3D Blu-ray Disc, or a 3D video game. 3D GlassesFor now, the vast majority of 3D HDTVs require glasses for 3D viewing. Many use powered "active shutter" glasses, others polarized "passive" glasses. You'll need one pair per viewer, and they'll have to be compatible with your display, whether they're the same brand, or a pair of "universal" glasses designed to work across brands. HDMI CableTo connect your source (such as a 3D Blu-ray Disc player) to your display, you'll need a high-speed HDMI cable. Cables with this designation feature bandwidth speeds up to 10.2 Gbps (gigabits per second), for carrying the 3D signal without any loss of quality. If you want to get more information about 3D, shop our 3D products, watch videos, or interact with other customers, we invite you to visit 3D 101, our customer center about everything 3D. Internet-Ready Television Internet-ready TVs use your broadband connection to deliver dynamic content, whether it's streaming video from Netflix, new music from Pandora, or a quick glance at today's weather forecast. Although there is overlap, each manufacturer offers a unique bundle of free or paid services, including streaming video and music, social networking apps, online photo galleries, news and financial updates, weather info, sports scores, and a variety of other smartphone-like applications. Manufacturers continue to add new content to their offerings, keeping customers current through firmware updates, and making a bit of research a prudent step in your buying decision. (March 2011) Step into the 3D World. The VIERA GT30 Series Full HD 3D Plasmas create an all new viewing experience by putting you inside the action and creating a new world of TV viewing realism. Infinite Black 2 In new VIERA models, contrast in brightly lit locations has been significantly improved. Enhancements to the panel and cells help reproduce images with smooth, natural gradation and deep, rich blacks even when viewed in bright surroundings. In movies, the true, deep blacks faithfully convey the intent of the filmmakers, adding power and realism to the viewing experience. Full-time 1080 Moving Picture Resolution VIERA plasma TVs have 1,080 lines of moving-picture resolution. Newly developed phosphors with minimal afterimages and a new motion compensating technology have made it possible to render faster-moving images with greater sharpness. This far surpasses the APDC moving-picture resolution measurement standard of 5 seconds by providing a moving-picture resolution of 1,080 lines at the 1.5-second level. And it shows the inherently clear motion of VIERA TVs in both 2D and 3D images. 3D 24p Cinema Smoother VIERA incorporates technology that analyzes picture information in both the preceding and succeeding frames, and creates a precise supplementary frame between them. This suppresses the jerky effect seen in movies, so playback is smooth and natural-looking. The distinctive tonal qualities and atmosphere of the movie are preserved, and you enjoy extremely lifelike 3D images. Frame Sequential Technology Panasonic uses Full-HD Frame Sequential technology to create its 3D images. Images recorded in 1920 x 1080 pixels for both the right-eye and the left-eye alternately flash on the screen at the ultra-high rate of 120 frames per second. When you view the screen through active-shutter glasses that open and close each lens in sync with the alternating images, you see breathtaking FULL HD 3D pictures with stunning power and realism. Dynamic Contast By combining the highly light-transmissive IPS Alpha Panel and high-brightness backlight, Panasonic have attained both high contrast and low power consumption. Also, by detecting the contrasting parts of the scene, the backlight is adjusted to maintain a brightness that is optimal for each area. Deep blacks are reproduced with no fading. The contrast between the brilliance of diamond-like stars and the deep black of the night sky produces a sharp, crisp image. 600Hz Sub-field Drive 600Hz technology lets you view superb full-HD motion and still images. For even greater clarity with motion images, Panasonic uses its own unique image-analysis technology. This technology converts the motion in each scene into dots. And each frame is practically displayed for a shorter length of time than in previous systems, to reduce aftereffects. Game Mode Games are much more fun when there's no lag in operation. VIERA automatically chooses settings that provide the optimal image, so you get super-fast response and no delays. Even dark scenes with delicately rendered details are beautiful and easy to see. 3D Image Viewer It's easy to view 3D photos and movies you shot yourself on the big VIERA screen. After shooting with your 3D-compatible camera or camcorder, simply insert the SD card into the slot on a 3D-compatible VIERA TV. The viewing is incredible, with images so realistic it feels as though you're right back in the moment. You'll find that life's special moments are even more memorable when you preserve them in 3D. VIERA Connect The exciting world of IPTV, centering on TV, is about to begin for the enjoyment of the entire family. Now you can enjoy intuitive remote control while relaxing on the living room sofa, with a wide variety of content at your fingertips. In the near future, TV will also be able to link with a tablet device to achieve completely new forms of entertainment that you've never before experienced. VIERA Link VIERA Link interlinks the operation of a variety of AV devices, so you can operate them all using only the VIERA remote control. Setup is easy simply connect the compatible devices to each other via HDMI cables. VIERA Remote VIERA remote is a TV remote controller app for select Panasonic VIERA HDTVs that uses your iPhone/iPod touch/iPad (of iOS 4.2 or later) to control TV channel selection, input selection, and volume control. Included features are gesture control, a keyboard user Interface, and a power off button. A high-quality VIERA HDTV can help. Thanks to a newly designed phosphor process and rear panel process, our plasma panels last for up to 100,000 hours before the brightness decreases by half. That's more than 30 years of viewing 8 hours a day. Environment-Friendly Panel Mercury and Lead Free Plasma Display Panel Panasonic is committed to making our products more friendly to the environment. In line with this commitment, all VIERA plasma display panels are free of both lead and mercury. This reduces impact on the environment years down the road when the TV is recycled or retired from use. Coleman With SONY and JVC no longer manufacturing their phenomenal high-end CRT HDTVs, and Pioneer out of the Plasma business, the pursuit of picture quality is not as simple as it once was. Rest assured, however, that there are still a handful of manufacturers (i.e. Panasonic, Samsung, LG, ...) still investing in Plasma technology, because LCD is a giant leap backwards in terms of picture quality. When Pioneer - the previous undisputed leader in picture quality - left the industry, they sold their Plasma technology to Panasonic. While the amount of Pioneer technology (if any) present in Panasonic's current line-up is a matter of debate, most critics will agree that Panasonic currently holds the crown for picture quality. Viera Size Segmentation (VT30 vs. GT30 vs. ST30) ------------------------------------------------ I was in the market for a VT30 this year... however, in the United States, Panasonic's size options are quite restrictive. In Europe, all lines of plasma from the X up to VT are available in 42", which is the perfect size for me. In the United States, each of the 3D model lines has a different starting size: VT30: 55" - 65" (Industry leading black level, less buzzing, better speakers, 96 Hz mode for 24p, ISF calibration, ...) GT30: 50" - 65" (Better black level, +1 HDMI port and VGA input, THX certified) ST30: 42" - 65" (Entry-level 3D TV) S30: 42" - 60" (1080p 2D plasma, worse motion clarity than ST30 and no 3D support) X3: 42" - 50" (720p 2D plasma) Unfortunately, I can barely fit a 50" TV where I have my GT30. I made the conscious choice of buying a TV slightly larger than I would have liked, because the GT30 buys you THX mode (which does a _really_ good job with skintones), an extra HDMI port, and a slightly lower black level than the ST30. Picture Quality --------------- Getting back to picture quality, I have a SONY Super Fine Pitch FD Trinitron (CRT) set in my bedroom that I use as a benchmark for image quality. The GT30 does not have the pure black level or white performance of the CRT (or even many local dimming LCDs). However, color accuracy and black gradiation (i.e. being able to see fine details in shadowed scenes) are actually better than my calibrated CRT. Unenhanced motion clarity is indistinguishable between the two sets, and the GT30 earns a lot in this respect when it comes to displaying 24 fps material (48 Hz mode causes flickering, but even with simple 3:2 pull-down, the TV displays 24p video well). Panasonic has added a more advanced Motion Smoother this year, with two levels - it creates artificial motion enhancement similar to LCD 120/240 Hz, and therefore has limited appeal. Physical Appearance ------------------- Typically I do not care about the physical appearance of a television (which is why I still prefer high-end CRTs to flat panels), but the design of this TV is definitely worth mentioning... compared to last year's GT25 model, this TV is lightyears ahead. The bezel has been shrunken on all sides of the panel, and the depth is equally impressive. Were it not for the speakers, and clunky stand, this TV would be about an inch deep. As a result, the television requires "break out" cables to attach analog audio/video devices, and the total number of analog inputs has been reduced to 3 (Component, Composite and VGA D-Sub). This does not bother me at all, since the only analog device I have connected to any of my TVs is a Nintendo Wii. The extra HDMI port more than makes up for it. I would also like to give kudos to Panasonic for putting the power button on the FRONT of the TV this year (it was on the side last year). Long-term Value (Viera Connect) ------------------------------- Viera Connect is a promising new feature for 2011, that is essentially an evolution of Viera Cast. Consumers can look forward to a growing software base in the future (as Software
